Mens Plaid Suit- Louis Goldsmith for MAGEES

Another one driving me nuts.

Magees was a clothing store in Nebraska, not sure when it closed
Louis Goldsmith made suits in the 40s - 60s, and I see suits for sale by him that appear to be 70s, but I cant find anything from the 70s about him.

Would you be as kind as to confirm that this is a 70s suit? Is that Glenn plaid?

My brain is sucked dry from researching today, any help is appreciated.

Thanks again, as usual

Hi Eli,

Your suit looks late '60s to mid '70s to me, probably at the '70s end of that but I'd need to see the cut of the trouser and labels better, if you have more photos.

Re: the plaid, it looks close to a Prince of Wales/Glen Plaid but without a close up, I can't be sure.

thank you.

Does this help for the pants cut and labels?

Thanks,

I did research on the Union Labels before posting. I am sorry I left that information out.

The label is confusing, (this has happened to me often), where the union label information is conflicting to what I see in a garment. This label has no registration (R in a circle) mark which would confirm it being pre 62, but that is meant to include red writing on the left of the label. Black writing with the registered R usually indicates after 62, but the writing on the left is in black with no registered R. So the label has indicators of being from before 62 and after. I'm gonna go with late 60s, since I think... if anything it is a very early 70s suit that more emulates the 60s than many of the 70s suits I see around.

Thanks so very much everyone.

I have a few more pieces I am researching, I am hopeful they go smoothly, but I may be back shortly!
