Menswear does well. But to do well, you have to include both the size and the measurements, and tell them if there is any built in room in the waist band to take it out. Mention union labels if they are present, too.
The well decorated ties from the 40s always sell well. They don't command the prices they once did, unless they are marvelous, though (have animals, or are very art deco-y. Atomic looking is also good). pay attention to what is being shown in fashion as far as other ties. As far as suits, sharkskin is always a hit no matter what year its from. Be careful, though - sharkskin has had a revival, especially at shops that cater to the urban hat wearing crowd - where white buccs haven't gone out of style, so don't assume just because its sharkskin that its vintage.
cotton suits that you can wash were something that was shown recently as well.
wide 70s ties seemed to have cooled off. There was a blip there when every 16 year old to 24 year old hipster wanted them, but not as much as they did.
Fedoras from back in the day in great shape - especially in non-micro sizes are a good bet. Homburgs don't sell as well with collectors, but stingy brims are in with some of the hollywood types. But nothing too natty.
Also, 50s with notched cuffs. Right now, a slimmer cut is back in again - so look for those slim cuts that were made in the 70s put were made in something other than poly. This spring, seersucker was on the runway but don't know if it caught on on the streets. I would imagine boxey suits are still out unless they are very vintage and collectible (ie early).
I have always noticed that the 70s corduroy and denim suits do best in small sizes (even sizes 36!), and the rockabilly revival style does better bigger because the larger guys are buying repro when they can't find.
Anything that could move into the steampunk category of fashion is working right now too. I always have said I should get a job as a menswear picker, but the temp agency doesn't have one of those LOL.
I will try to think of more...
Oh, yeah, pants with a certain inner construction are wanted. I will try to find a pic of it..but buttons on the inside...i used to know quite a few guys who would look for trousers like that even without the jackets
