Mix your vintage

The last month has been so depressingly rainy that I got to wear my newest idea about mixing vintage items only today :sunshine:.

You might remember the cotton and lace shift that I had asked about here some time ago.

Well, I have washed it a bit more since and managed to get the stains out, have mended the lace at one of the straps and re-sewn the darts:

I have since also added a wider, matching satin ribbon. And together with a cute 50s dress that I bought from Joules (the dress is actually a little too transparent on it's own, it defenitely needs a second layer), I have found a way to wear the shift:

I guess when I saw the shift in the shop, the same thing kicked in as when I buy an old or awful-looking Barbie doll for my collection and restore it or make something new out of it. The idea of "restoring" something, make it beautiful again is very satisfying :eureka: .

karin, you are so adorable! and if J's lovely plaid dress was larger? it would have been in my closet by now....

by any chance do you have a narrower white belt? the wide is terrific, but i bet a skinnier one would be maybe even MORE fabulous!!

Good idea, Mary. Right now, I have no other white belt - even a wide one that fits my waist (and my ideas) was hard to find. But I'm always looking for nice belts to go with my many dresses.

The thing is Karin the way you style your vintage does not make you stand out for just wearing vintage , you have great skill in makeing like your wearing nice clothes and looking womderful in them and they happen to be vintage.
