First, I apologize that I don't have the label pic yet. My camera battery died and my kid's nabbed the backups (dratted childhood electronic games!!)

We have Mr. John in the Label Resource, however, that Mr. J seems to specialize in hats. My 70's dress has an authentic Liberty of London floral print.

So, my question...did Mr. John venture into clothing as well as hats???

I have a Mr. John Beau Brummell tie...so I imagine that he probably designed for other shops too. Liberty was a store as well as a print maker. So it could have been a Mr. John item sold at Liberty or it could have been a Liberty of London print fabric made into a Mr. John designed item or vice versa.
 
I'm sure I heard a rumour somewhere that Mr. John was another John Stephen identity. He was the KING of Carnaby Street and possibly even beats Samuel Sherman for number of different labels and shops....I could be wrong though....

Bonnie, that looks very typical of Liberty of London fabric. (being typical in this case is a **GOOD** thing) I think that is a really great selling point.

Hey Sandra, do you have a picture/scan of that label. I bet we don't have it in the Mr. John entry.

Well, couple of issues:

1.) The stalkings are not Mr. John Of London They are "Sophisticates" by Mr. John New York/Paris

2.) I looked up the RN and the database showed that the date was 1998. These DO NOT strike me as 1998 stalkings.
