My 1940s dress!

I picked this up for a song a few months ago at a local antique/vintage clothing shop. Since my sweet husband got me a digital camera for my birthday, I'm going crazy today photographing stuff!

I wasn't sure the drapery in the front would be flattering on my figure, but it looks great! I'm looking forward to having an occasion to wear it.

And, two other pictures I took today. :D

Simon, our resident troublemaker:

Isa, the stereotypical cat (in other words, don't touch him! :P):

WOW, that's a great dress! I hope you have an occasion to wear it too. I wish I had an occasion for each dress i have ......guess I will have to make a lot of new friends about to get married or who host a lot of black tie dinners.

And nice "family" too

Looks like you are having fun with your new camera. Love the dress and kitty.:)

:) Thanks!

We almost never go anywhere nice...There just aren't many occasions. I love to dress up though, so I can't resist buying gowns like this. Sometimes we make our own occasion, dress up and go out to dinner somewhere. Also, Seth's mom has been going to arts events (opera, musicals, etc) a lot recently and we've been going with her, so that gives me a reason to dress up once in a while. :)

That's great. We have one local event that is black tie optional, everything else is just come as you are. But there is nothing like an art event, etc, to make you remember that one has the potential to clean up well when required.

Well, happy belated birthday!
The draping on those 40s dresses can be decieving can't they? Now days when something has "extra fabric" it ADDS inches to the body but in the 40s they just had a way with draping and fabric so it flatters the body.
Gorgeous dress, simple enough at the top to go overboard on gobs of jewelry or beautiful unadorned..

La Familia is gorgeous as well, a couple of ginger felines!
