My booty from downunder...

Why is it that I am always better dress when flying home from a trip than on the way out? Because I buy vintage and then wear it for the flight home (if it's day-wear).

And forget the shoe- and handbag-mania, I am hooked on vintage jackets! So much, that I came home from Australia with two new ones.

I just can't resist a beautifully made, perfectly cut vintage jacket, especially if it's 40s or 50s!

First one - a very 1940s style, and so wearable! It has been re-lined, which is a nice touch, and I have moved the buttons a teensy bit inward for a slightly better fit.

And this is the ultimative power jacket! Forget 1980s power-dressing... this is way better :headbang:! It's re-lined as well, and some re-weaving has been done on it too, but that was done so beautifully that I don't care to be honest - I saw this and already was in love with it! It's a custom-made piece by a tailor, according to the original labels that were sewn back in. It was marked as 1930s, though my first thought was more 1940s, but maybe I'm wrong.

Great jackets Karin: do you mind if I ask where you got them from? I'm a big fan of '40s and '50s jackets and they're hard to find in Aus so I'm always looking for new supplies.

I would date your second jacket as '50s, probably early.

We're on the same wavelength here, Karin!

I have (and wear regularly) more 40s/50s tailored jackets than any other vintage garment. They are my stand-bys!

You've come home with two gorgeous examples!

Thanks everybody! I wear my vintage jackets everyday - I love them, but they're here to wear, and I'll wear them as long as they hold up! Some of these styles look just great with jeans. I love how they accentuate my figure in a way a modern jacket never does . And since I dress everyday as to how I feel - and that can mean jeans and sweater one day and a dressy dress day the next - I need of course many different jackets to fit my moods and styles .

I have some modern jackets too, but some of them have been in my wardrobe a long time already, and they're probably going to leave it sooner or later. There's just one that I really hang on to. Otherwise, I've decided to stay with vintage. They're often less expensive, but even better made than a Benetton jacket (that used to be my favorite place to shop for a nice jacket or coat).

Nicole - I bought them both at the Vintage Clothing Shop... One of the hotels my boss asked me to look at in my free time is just around the corner, so this was perfect.
