Thanks for your hounesty!
You might not have seen these photo before, the grey in the context of vintage, and my longer last year brown longer hair, the same outfit this years with shorter hair and more make up, and finally the three which I think are the best for me

Key From the Left to right

a) Last years with a brown longer style of hair
b) This year same outfit with my shorter & lighter hair
c) The grey worn with a original 1950's vintage outfit
d) Similar to my avatar .. could go out wering this I think?
e) How I might go out lookingin future ?
d) Finally how I looked the first time I did go out a few months ago.

Burn the grey wig (Sorry). It does not work with the vintage.....

Try a short bob above the ear. And if you are shopping buy a vitage SWING COAT. Works great for tall people.

On the black jacket ditch the wig. Wear thehat slightly at back of heat - . And try a super long scarf around the neck with a vintage pin. A thin belt with the last two outfits....

The dress with the burgundy jacket that dress looks like sit fits well try a cropped jacket also.

Generally your skirts should be shorter..... You have long legs....

And try a necklace and some bracelets.

These are just suggestions to add more polish to your outfits....

Ditch my wig :violins:
I do like the idea of a belt for the last ones might just add what missing!
I did go through a short skirt phase but I was slightly thinking I was dressing too young.
The left photo was my first ever full ladies outfit and the jacket way too long I did like the skirt and showing some leg
one the right is a look I created a few months ago but I feel it too bold for me .

I just do not know if I should develop the more conserative Purple jacket or the black one white top ( right) or go for a very bold statment as in the gray one one the right.

Yes a necklace! That is well put together. The one on the right ditch the skirt only 90 pound waifs can wear those skirts.

Sorry about the grey wig but alas it has to go......

-Chris

another item to ditch Lol Good job I only paid £3.00 for the skirt.
I do not see many cropped jacket in my size or I snap them up,
The finishing toughts are what ladies are so good at.

Paulin, you are looking nice in your Avatar and dark colors suites you best imo.

Thank you. it looks like you are new here so welcome for me:hiya:

Pauline,

I want to thank you for sharing with us. While the gray wig naturally makes you look older, I think it does look good with some of the older vintage. Plus, I get the distinct feeling that you like that gray wig and feel very comfortable in it, which then helps you feel more comfortable about dressing up in general. I would not throw it out or burn it, but keep it to wear around the house to keep your "thing" going at home. You must feel comfortable with your look, so maybe put it in a drawer for a while and wear it every so often. I know others don't like it, but I think its kind of cute!

I like the natural color stockings and dark stockings on you. I cannot see you in hot pink stockings (yet). That looks better on younger women to me. Maybe I am old fashioned but I like you in classics. Not too flashy or bright, except for your accessories where you can go a bit more wild or sparkly.

I like the third photo from the left, with the grey wig. Maybe I am strange....but you look adorable!

Uh ohhhhhhhh....... LOL!

So many women with opinions. Well you asked!!!!! Welcome to our world.

My freind denise calls me to ask me which color to paint her front door. She had also called three other freinds with same question.

I drive by her house drive home call her tell her which one I like and she chooses the opposite door color.

This happens with outfits too..... And I cant get out of it with telling her pick theone you like best....

-Chris

Thank you Barbara
Confidence in my appearance is the issue for me, not the respect of going out dressed which I could do any time if I desired , it's more about feeling at home with how I look and been able to blend in . I know that upon close inspection people will be able to tell unless you in face to face contact eye contact and communicating like paying for something or asking for information with some one how much notice do you take of the detail I do not know,

We all have slightly different view on style and I fully accept that and for me part of what make fashion interesting, so if I do get conflicting info or opinion I have to make my own judgment in a way there.

I do not know if I can get to this standard to for fill my ambition of been able to walk down a street in my local town center without drawing too much attention, I think that has a lot to do with body language which says you are confident which again is the result of wearing the right styles for a 49 years old women like me,

For example if my hem line was a little too high then that would draw attention to me purely for that reason and if there wear also other inconstancies this would add to the problem in my opinion and give too much of the game away.
It's a matter of balancing every thing and firstly producing a character with I am confident in them make smaller alterations like wearing a shorter skirt but becase the other detail are as near right as I can get them, I have that confidence in the whole look and hopefully it would come over.

I not sure if this make sense at all, I think any one can put on a dress but wearing it and making the look your own is a different matter and having confidence in your appearance is the key the devil is in the detail also.

The grey wig make me older in a way that some of the fun to be able to take on another character as a slightly older women but not try and dress frumpy

This is the look which I have the most confidence in at the moment and that I see as been my style, but taking the principle here and creating another outfit is also the big chalange for me

( p.S I hope I not boring every one!

Going outside your zone will help your confidence and make creating new looks easier. Its not not about whats appropriate for a 49 year woman. It dressing to fit your bodytype and expressing your personal style.

Not standing out is not dressing down. Its a matter of getting out there often so people get to know you and used to you.

Well anyway get the US Sept issue of Vogue. I thinkit is the Jouicy Couture full page ad to male models dressed as women......

Hi Pauline. I'm new here, but just had to join in! Totaly agree that the look you have going in your avi is my favourite ( though I do like the one with the grey wig/black coat... really reminds me of my 'grand' aunts in the 50's) and the wig is the most flattering on you.
Shame you don't live closer to me....I'd accompany you on a spin round town any day!
