If you are in the neighbourhood please check it out! Oakville is a small town along Lake Ontario, halfway between Toronto and Hamilton. Its a small exhibition but packed with lots a great hats and bonnets dating from 1780 to 1970.

that's amazing, it all looks so beautiful! - and the thing i am most jealous of (aside fom your vast knowledge and hat collection) is the display heads!
are they all yours? i am developing a bit of an addiction for them..

WOW!! I need to to see that!

I missed your '40's clothing show in Guelph(?) last year, but I should be able to get to this. Maybe with some friends in tow. When is the show up until?

Hey, maybe Tiff and I can come see that together. :bouncing:

The show is on until the middle of April. I also have a shoe exhibition on in Burlington which is the next town over from Oakville towards Hamilton and that one opens this Saturday and will also be up until the middle of April -- I will post pics of it later. I forgot to take pics when I was there installing it last friday.

The heads are all mine. The blonde one is a reproduction I bought from http://www.decoeyes.com/ They are excellent! The rest of them are original ones I picked up over the years.

Just exquisite, Jonathan. Thanks for letting us see!

Very impressive, Jonathan!!! Any plans to come to Montreal or, perhaps, Ottawa?

Oh wow!

I knew you had shoes, but never knew you had so many hats.

In teh last photo, in the lower right hand corner there is one that is veiled that looks like a top hat...is it really that high with that red on top or is there something behind it making it appear that way?

I did mount the paper dress show in Montreal but that was about five years ago. But hey... if I get an invitation

That is a top hat style from the early 1940s, but there is a saucer hat from tehe 30s right behind it that is trimmed with fuchsia and the two blend into one in the image.

Great pictures and Wowza collection (as always!) Gosh...that's only a couple of hours and a border to cross away. Will have to book a sunny day trip to see these. oops....do we need passports now to go to Canada???

Wow, Jonathan! Incredible display!

I keep eyeing those repros from DecoEyes, as well. I keep collecting hats but never end up selling them because I can't really display them to my liking.

.... or at least, that's how I'm going to justify buying one of those heads! :horny:

You probably need passports to get into Canada, but more importantly, you will need them to get back into the US. There was something on the news about a new type of passport in the form of a card the US will be issuing for, most specifically, border-town inhabitants who habitually go back and forth. The cost will be about half of what a passport cost - not sure when it takes effect.

I think they are starting that in 2007....in the past it has just been a photo id and a birth certificate. But i could be wrong...they could be starting it this year
