\"my own private idaho\" jacket Hi, I'm looking for a wool jacket seen in the movie "my own private idaho". What is it called? Has anyone seen something like it on ebay? regards Eric **Your photo was edited to a reasonable size by admin.**
First of all are you sure it's wool? It reads like a heavy cotton canvas in the picture - almost like an outback coat but not oiled.
I agree, about the fabrication, and it it seems vaguely J. Peterman-ish to me, or perhaps even J. Crew, of the time of that film (1991).
Humm... looks like a Balbour to me: http://www.barbour.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=products.view&ProductID=18668&FeatureId=15
Leave it to Lizzie! Sure does. Any jackets I have seen that were similar, had to have been inspired-by knock-offs. That is the real deal.
Could it be a Carhartt? I am located in Idaho, and the jacket looks very much like a Carhartt, a rugged outdoor clothing line made of heavy cotton canvas like material. They are still in business with many styles and variations. Our local farm supply store carries them, as well as dairy supply stores. Marian http://www.vintagevanitiesclothing.com/
Thanks for all answers so far! I'm quite sure it's not an outback coat. canvas, wool. I don't know, just want to find a similar jacket. I'm located in Sweden, far away from Idaho. If you find some pics of an old red rugged carhartt jacket, let me know What's that 4 doing there?
Hi, I don't have any photos, but I used to own an auto body shop in the 1980s and we wore a lot of Carhartt jumpsuits and overalls and jackets. That sure looks like one to me. Barbara
Hello! This has been answered in another thread here. The jacket is a reversable Drybak from the 50s. Very rare, but if you search 'drybak reversable' you'll see it.
