I cannot seam to be able to alter my signature!

I can understand why you would not want any Tom Dick or Harry putting a link to there vintage shop on here,
I do not sell vintage just a humble collector, and the only other link at the moment to vintage dealers are too to VFG members shops.

I cannot see my web site a threat to any ones trade, maybe seeing my vitage items might encourage some one who read this forum to also spend a few $ with there local dealer.

Hi Pauline,
One of our site administrators will probably stop by eventually with the official word, but I'm guessing that the decision to prevent live links in the signatures of guests is because of the extra policing and checking that would be required if non-commercial links were allowed. You'd be amazed how much obvious spam is posted here on a typical day that has to be dealt with. If there were links to check too, it would more than double their load.

Thanks for changing the signature,
It's just that have I run vintage sites for seven years now and for my efforts not really got anywhere by doing them,
where others who have blog's and face book seam to using it to there advantage a lot better than I ever done.
So my new site is not about selling clothes it will be run very much more commercial footing in several ways and much more about self promoting and promoting people who are local to me and I deal with on various levels.
So I was just exploring to possibilities which do not seam to be there now on this forum for our mutual benifit like there were .

That's no problem for me, as only 1 person came from here to my site in the last month , I had sent a few more than that to read this forum in the same time frame, so as I say not at problem for me at all,
So i will just promote the VFG members who give me discounts form now on.

I love the VFG and always recommend members to those who are looking for vintage goodies - we have to abide by the code of conduct and are vetted for professionalism so the standards are high!

I'm sorry if you're unhappy about the sig file, Pauline - VFG trade members pay for our memberships which fund the forums and resources like the Label Resource. It's a great public service used by thousands around the world including many businesses, schools and museums. Many trade members are generous with their time and skills - there's nowhere else you can access such detailed and valuable information about vintage fashion as you can here, and it's all free!

Trade members benefit by being able to promote our websites and wares - it's a small thing for all the good that we do, don't you think?

It's also the matter of the site being staffed by volunteers. There simply isn't the manpower (sorry personpower) available to police the signatures, and I believe that's why non-member signatures were disabled.

It's of course unfortunate for someone like you, who is a good user of the site and follows the rules, but because of the high number of guests who were posting spam links in their signatures with no regard for the rules of the site, that's how it had to be dealt with.
