Need help dating an antique velvet and woven dress

    Hello,

    Could I get some help dating this dress? Unfortunatley there are a lot of holes so I don't know if it will have much value, but I'd be interested in your opinion on date and desirability.

    There are people here much better at this than I am, but I'd say early 1920's, and maybe a little matronly (if that's the right word) to be a highly desirable dress of the period.

    I am seeing either very late teens or early 20s.

    I agree with early 1920s. I think it is quite attractive in its own way.

    Is the fabric silk? The holes may not be important if they are not caused by silk shattering.

    Looks 1924 on the nose - that length and the asymmetrical side interest are both spot on for 1924:
