need help dating this purple dress

Hi,

Can someone help me dating this dress?
I bouhgt this piece a year or three ago I think. Didn't knew much about dating vintage and this dress was sold to me as an 1980's "dallas" dress, and I thought it was.
Today I was organizing clothes and this dress came across. I looked at it, saw the metal zipper at the side, the belt with the bow on the back of the dress, and the whole model. Could this be a 60's dress?
Purple dress with rather short sleeves, double breasted with rhinestone buttons, belt with a bow that closes on the back, metal zipper from 'elite' on the side.
Measurements:
Bust: 20 inch
Waist: 16 inch
Length: 44 inch

Also I'd like to know the type of fabric. It has some shine. Strong fabric.

Ineke, first glance, it appears 1940s to me with that type of interlining, the rhinestone buttons, the dolman cut sleeves.

love that color. btw, do you have a mannequin you can put that on, to see it hang on a body?

My first impression was 50s or very late 40s but seeing it on a mannequin will definitely help! The fabric weave is a faille - maybe rayon. Look forward to seeing more photos.

I'd have thought 50s, but it's hard seeing it just on a hanger. I would guess it's a rayon from the look of it, but you'd have to make a burn test to make sure. Just don't get it wet if it really is rayon .
