Need Help Finding a Vintage Blanket

Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help me find this blanket its very old and i don't know the material it has a texture on one side and the other is fully flat it has a mash thing which some fibers are put though, i cant find anything online about this and speaking with my grandparents they say it could be an old towel

That took me by surprise! Very large! I'm not sure how many towels are that large.

I'm sure you're right that it is tied to the football team. Here I see that the crest logo was changed in 1949, when the crowns were removed from the lions.
