I recently acquired a beautiful 48 x 72 lace tablecloth (perhaps a coverlet for a single bed) that I showed to a friend to told me it's Tambour lace. My findings pointed me to this possible fact but I received some information from a person who told she had a piece very similar that belonged to her grandmother and proceeded to share the history of this lace known as point d'Alençon tulle embroidery lace. I'm not sure how she came to this conclusion as my searches lead me to examples of Tambour lace. Then again, I've seen many assumptions about vintage items and one thing contradicts another.
I would be most grateful if anyone could shed some light on this lovely piece and possible how old it might be. It's in very good condition with one corner having some minor holes in the tulle and another somewhere near the center.
