Need Help With An Antique Shawl

I need help dating this old shawl please. It is ecru color and is very soft and gauzy feeling. The other clothes it came with were from the 1910's and 20's. Any help is appreciated!

I am having a blond/senior moment and the name of that type of shawl has escaped me... but they were popular baby shawls around the turn of the century... I'll come back when I remember unless someone else remembers...

I believe the term for these is shetland lace and they were popular as christening shawls/blankets.

THAT's It... Shetland... all I could think of was Aran and Hebrides and I knew those were wrong...

I have one almost exactly like that! It was my grandmothers. I believe it is silk. Would it still be called Shetland lace if it is silk? I thought that was a term used for woolen lace but maybe it refers to the type of knitting?

I believe so Suzanne, and just for reference the patterns to make these shawls are still sold today.
