Need help with dating please...

I was thinking about buying a dummy anyway...plus some Photoshop (working with the light and the background). That should do, but thanks for the advise!

If I would like to ask someone to price this item for me, where I should go? As a heritage student I'm always very interested how price up old things.

Can anyone advice me from the own experience?
I thought on this forum, there are members- APPRAISERS (hope this is the right word?). I'm very interested in the process of giving an evaluation (what factors do you take under account in case of potentially old clothing?), which I suppose is preceding pricing the items. Or maybe it is some business secret and I'm just being a nuisance? Sorry for having so many questions, but it would really help me with my studies! In my country selling, or preserving vintage cloths isn't popular at all.

Personally I became interested in the topic after I have visited UK.

Anyway, many thanks for dating the objects!

Our members are not appraisers per se. Although some may do appraisals for a fee. We do not do appraisals on this forum. Most of our members are vintage fashion retailers or other professionals; authors, museum curators etc.

If you want a full appraisal you will probably have to pay for it and frankly unless something is really old and rare, or has a highly desirable designer label, I doubt it would be worth it.

Maybe just search the internet for antique or vintage fashion appraisal.

There are generally bound to be several vintage items for sale at online at any one time that are similar to most anything you would be looking to price. It's fairly easy to "comp" (run a comparative market analysis on) a dress to get an idea of what the range is. It is one thing if an item is very old, very rare, or carries an iconic fashion designer's name. But, for example many of the dresses you have posted about are from the 70s and 80s, and shouldn't be hard to comp. If you can't find the exact maker, you can still type a short description into a search engine and get a good idea of value. It may take you a while on some things, but that's what most of us do when we have an item we're unsure about as to value.
