    Hello there!

New to the forum. I have been collecting vintage for a long time (mostly 50's/60's).

Found this dress that looks to be 30's/40's made out of linen or feedsack, but not homemade.
It is an off white (natural linen look) long dress with red strawberries and red piping. Also rounded shorter pouf sleeves.
The label reads: an original "Margo De Mar" design A Sterling Creation.
Having trouble uploading photo file "too big."

    Anyone heard of the designer/label??

    Thank you!

Trying again as it didn't look like it uploaded last time.
If it doesn't show up this time... I will go hide in a corner and study
and return another day. : )
Sorry folks for the newbie errors!

Super cute dress! I see late '30s to early '40s. No help on the label, sorry, but there are thousands of fashion labels and not all of them are online, especially old ones that finished ages ago.

Does it have a side zipper or poppers?

    Aw... thanks!
It has 3 metal snaps on the side.
It looks like feedsack material or linen.
I wonder if it's strange to have this material used back then
WITH a designer label. Especially since the depression/WWII going on??

Also out of curiosity... does anyone know if back in the 30's/40's the french
had labels in french or in english normally. Obviously I do not have any
    knowledge of european labels.

  8. French labels would be in french, unless they were for the tourist or overseas market.

Your dress is likely to be post-Depression and perhaps before the War, if it's an American dress (I'm thinking your dress is '39-41).
