Nottingham Vintage Fashion Fair Photos

Got the photos off my camera from the Nottingham fair and here they are! :)

Scarfs and other accessories were the order of the day as were 80's shoes. It seemed as if many people wanted things that they could accessorize with and it still seems that 80's fashions are holding on tight!!

I bought a LOVELY Suzy Perette from Harriet (who had the stall behind me) that I can only wear with my corset as it fits like a glove. It has a high shelf bust and is princess seamed with 3/4 length sleeves.

Here is my stall..

There was a stall across from me that was selling 80's shoes and they had loads of students trying on 80's shoes! Yuk, just can't bring myself to sell 80's though. I hated it the first time it was in fashion!!!

LOL, Hollis- Edwin SELLS those T-shirts from his website. Gary told him though he better be careful walking around certain streets though while wearing that!:D

He did have them on his website but I don't see them. I'm sure if you emailed him, he'd get one for one.

Yes Liz, you should try and come one of these days. We always have our little VFG corner. Edwin's stall was beside mine and Harriet's was at the back of ours like a little triangle :)

It was a good shopping day too!!

oh you both look great, so happy and the figure Lei!! wowzer!! could you breathe?
l just wish we had vintage fairs up north, the antique fairs arent worth doing really.......

Oh Harriet are those Swede boots? I normally do not like boots much, but when they are with a dress it's different matter especially if they are vintage and Swede.

Lei corsetted of course
What a surprise! you look great also

The stalls look great! I second having more vintage fairs up north! I did one in Newcastle recently, which was a lot of fun, but we didn’t have nearly as much space as your one! My rails were kind of packed in, and it was hard for people to get round. I love the way your stall is arranged lei, with the rail across from your table.

I've been selling a lot of 80's, too.
At the flea markets I've been setting up at, I'm seeing two distinct camps of vintage buyers. Ok -- maybe three, as the Japanese constitute their very own camp and they buy a WEIRD mix of stuff. But outside of them you have the traditional die hard 40's/50's camp -- and a DO sell a fair amount to them.
And the young & trendy gals who are buying the 80's stuff. I think that last year's trends really opened their eyes to 80's vintage and now they're branching out into areas of 80's that high fashion hadn't incorporated before. They're realizing how much MORE variety there is than just what the fashion mags showed -- so who knows? We may get some lifelong converts out of it.

Thanks for the pics, Lei! You both look so lovely! I have such a hard time wearing vintage, myself -- I wish I could do it more often!

I'm ashamed to say I was very nearby staying with friends in Leicester, but we were totally useless, knackered and skint and so stayed home... I'll definitely come to the next one though!

Lei, you and Harriet look fabulous!! Edwin looks pretty cool too :)

Thanks so much for sharing these pics - those of us that don't get out much like to live
vicariously through them.

:)

ACK LIN!!! You should have told me you were going to be near, I could have sent you and your firends FREE tickets to get in.

Kristine, you are so right about the three types of buyers as those are who are at thge fairs although there were more Japanese buyers at the Hammersmith fair than there was at Nottingham.
But you are bang on with the die hard 40's/50's people and the trendy 80's girls. The trendy 80's kids didn't even step one foot in my stall as well, everything I have on display is at least 50 years old or older!! But I did get the rockabilly people and there are quite a few 40's couples who dress up in 40's ALL THE TIME and live the 40's lifestyle that did come to the fair as well. I see them all the time, they tend to do the "vintage clothing circuit" just buying 40's things to wear all the time.

I did quite a bit of shopping too, got a TINY display girdle which is even too small for my display forms. It may have even been a salesman sample although I have seen tiny shop display forms on Ebay that would have fit it. I'll save it for when I come across one of these little shop display ladies. Also bought some seamed tights from Harriet from the 60's to wear and some contrasting black seamed stockings to wear too.
