Novelty Fruit Dress

Could anyone provide information about a dress such as this? It seems to be handmade, but does it date to any particular decade? It has a white lining and a metal zip. I love it! It's so fun Thanks!

 

Mid 1970s. Are the fruit removable or do you wash the whole dress intact?
