Oh the 70's .... and Hot Pants

Oh, yeah, I wore hot pants (although my parents had to approve of the length, or lack thereof)... Loved the hip hugger ones. Wore 'em with opaque tights and platform shoes or sandals. And either with skinny shirt tucked in or bodysuit, or babydoll top that you wore untucked.

Of course, that was back when I was thin and could pull off the look!

in 8th grade we (all the girls in my class) actually had a "sit-in" in our principal's office to protest the dress/skirt only rule. we won (!) and were allowed to wear slacks to school after that day. seems like we weren't allowed to wear jeans to school until maybe later in high school ~

Check out these hot pants on my website.

I can't believe a worn some similar to these.

No hot pants.. but yes on the daisy dukes.. they were so short they may as well have been hot pants!

and yes on the scooters.. loved them, especially skorts.. the one with the skirt over the shorts?

we had a dress code too, and had to kneel on the floor every morning in home room. skirts had to touch the floor.

odd rule ~ guys had to wear a belt if they had belt loops on their pants.. i think our attendence director who enforced all these silly rules is spinning in his grave about now, with thongs showing and guys gangsta pants with boxers showing.

Yvonne, we had the same rule about our skirts touching the floor.

And remember how tasteless it was if the tiniest sliver of bra strap peeped out from a sleeveless top?

I had a pair that were frayed at the edges...and had little zippers up the sides that started at the bottom. I just considered them as decoration...but if you really wanted to, you could have unzipped them and had slits up to just below the leg of your undies. But that might have been a bit too trollopy for me, unless I had a bathing suit on, and then that would be really cool.

I am done with the Daisy Dukes, but sorta wish I had kept that pair just to laugh at them (or who knows...hang onto them until they were vintage and everyone wanted to dress like Baby Spice, or the predecessor Daisy Duke shorts). I *do* still wear miniskirts, however, proudly.

If I found a pair of hotpants in the right color and size, I would buy them to pair up with a top and shoes I have that are very of the era that I would wear for a halloween costume. The hot pants may make the whole thing a bit much for wearing out and about - a pair of jeans kinda tones the rest of the elements down. Ah, but that's down the road when I am rich.
