One of the odder handbags of my collection...

I have slowly and aimlessly going through my handbag collection to document them in some way. (and also because i was asked about how many I have and I did not truly know the number).

I thought i would share one of my more strange and unusual leather handbags. either you instantly love it or instantly hate it. (not offended either way!) Kinda looks like it is "looking" at you with four eyeballs. This is from 1967/8

:BAGUSE: Um..Steph....Not able to say yet. Not because its a secret. But because that is as of yet unavailable. For now, let's just say "more than five" and i will have to get back to you :BAGUSE:

Here's a very poor picture of the mother of pearl carryall. but it was already on my server so i thought i would cheat

Here is a close blood relative of purse #1 but over 20" long

Yes, as a matter of fact it is. The eyeball purse is also.

I have several (:BAGUSE: understatement) continentals. I tend to accumulate them whenever they cross my path. And i know that i am a sick person because every one i usually see nowadays...i already have it. But i know of about a handful that I do not. I even have two bags where i have the same bag in two completely different colors. Oh no, my secret is out now.

By the way Leisa....I don't think so...or...I certainly hope not.

Cool! They have a distinctive look don't they? I have a sneaking suspicion that you acquired that last one from... Betty*Blackbent?

If not, it's very similar to one I eyed up a while ago. She seems to have had a stonking Continental collection too - I bought a large, less-structured-than-normal tritone continental from her. It's been great and (don't wince) while looking completely elegant, I can secrete a whole (wrapped and packaged) Chinese takeaway order in there. :P

If you ever have duplicates, let me know! I'm a continental convert...

Yes, I did get that last one from her.

I will definitely let you know if I get a twin.

They have been scarcer for me to find and believe me i comb the earth for them LOL.

I know what you mean about the sizing. I actually have a gigantic navy blue one that i am positive i could fit the larger of my two dogs in if i wanted to (the smaller one doesn't fit because of his shape. He's got the short dachshund legs that make him a lot less convertible).

Chris .... your past picture especially of the purse on the sidewalk...is a snapshot right out of Vogue!! Very artsy and good presentation of a great looking purse!!

Sometimes we get so focused on showing the object, we forget to show it in a comfortable setting... You captured a great shot there!!
:clapping:

we forget to show it in a comfortable setting

You are onto something there...if I explain the proliferation of handbags around here...I will just state that they are "comfortable in their natural habitat" lol quite like a game preserve.

Thanks for the compliment though, Barbara...And you are absolutely right. I take the photos with my mannequin in my office, but when I work with my manform or accessories, i tend to take them outside because the sunlight is just perfect. And I get so busy photoshopping the natural habitat out....why do I do that? It just occurs to me.

You know...I think back and many of my photos especially from last year i used the brick facade of my front porch etc, as a background and things looked quite good, but I think i have been overly concerned about looking like a bigger business than i currently am and trying to get my photos the to look more sterile and tricked out with all sorts of editing software. Maybe i have forgotten something along the way...
