Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience. The Cartier piece shown in your photos was the centerpiece of a Cartier retrospective I saw several years ago in San Fransisco at the Palace of the Legion of Honor. It is magnificient. Here it is a bit closer:

Theresa, I enjoyed reading about your visit to Hillwood Mansion so much. I am reading "Ingenue To Icon: 70 Years of Fashion From the Collection of Marjorie Merriweather Post" right now and it's wonderful! I would love to visit Hillwood sometime, but for now, your blog will have to suffice! Good job!
Thanks! I definitely want to get that book. I wish I had picked it up that day at the museum gift shop, but it was so crowded there and we were running late. But am looking forward to reading it.

Thank you, Linn. And that photo of the Cartier emerald brooch that is in the portrait is beyond stunning. I read somewhere that it was one of Marjorie's favorite pieces. Not surprising.
On September 30 Hillwood Museum is putting on a garden party to debut Marjorie's fall/winter fashion collection before the exhibit opens to the public.
I so wish I could attend that event. It is bound to be a great time. If anyone gets to go, please report back!!
