Photo Shop / Elements Question

Well, I had a major computer crash Friday evening - the result of a lightening strike a while back. Fortunately I have a neighbor who is a total Macophile like myself - and he knows how to fix things. However, in the process my photoshop seems to have bit the dust.

I only need a basic program - color saturation, removing backgrounds, that kind of thing, and it looks as if Elements would be fine. Anyone use it?

Thanks - Amanda

I use Elements 4.0. I got it on eBay for around $25.

It does just about everything I've ever needed, and I think it's well worth the money. I bought an old version because I'm a cheapskate and didn't want to pay more money for the most recent version. lol

Funny, I never thought about getting it on eBay. Meanwhile, my Mac friend turned me onto a shareware program that seems really good - Graphic Converter. You can try it for a while to test it out. It's @ $35 and intuitive to use. I just need to figure out if there's a smudge tool! Thanks all.
