Hi,
I have a piano shawl that I need dated please. They have a huge timeline from mid 1800 to 1920's.
Mine weighs 1.112kgs. Main piece with embroidery is 132cm x 138cm. The fringing is 60cm. The embroidery is the same both sides, one side is slightly faded. It is made from silk. It has some kind of makers stamp? Please see photos.
Thanks so much Anna

I've not seen that stamp before. There's always something new! Most of the shawls of this type that I have seen, have been dated to the 1910s/1920s.

I agree with the dating, thinking around 1920 - 1925. Many of the antique Chinese textiles I have come acrss, have had some tiny blue or red ink or other color stamp. I was told these wee export stamps for use by customs, etc. However I have not seen a prominent stamp like that on a silk shawl.

It is a beauty.
