Hello all!

I am so excited about my recent treasure that I simply must share.

I believe it to be from 1971 based on the photograph by Roland Bianchini for L'Officiel Magazine - the only image of it that I can find anywhere. I can find no trace of it elsewhere. I have some inquiries in to a couple of different resources, but if anyone here has anything to say about I'm all ears!

I'm sorry the pictures aren't brilliant - I had such low light but couldn't wait to share.

I think it was part of a runway show due to the hand numbered label in it. A mysterious, glittering little gem indeed!

Anabel, the hand number is probably the original number for the grande defile'--the fashion show to show the collection to the press. It is really stunning.
There has recently been publicity about Cardin because of the movie. You might get a response if you have specific questions by writing the archivist.

Do you plan to wear it, sell it, or just admire it?

Thank you for all your lovely responses.

@denisebrain Amazing find of the newspaper article! I wish I could read what they have to say! But it's so cool that you found that!

@Ranch Queen Vintage Oh of course, with pleasure!

@claireshaeffer Yes I think you're right about the hand number. Good idea about writing the archivist. And I plan on selling it eventually. But to be honest, it's a little hard to know quite how to go about it as there's not a lot of precedent (that I have found) for the sale of a piece like this. I currently have an inquiry in to a curator at the Victoria & Albert museum in London via a friend. Hopefully they'll be able to shed some light on how I should proceed. I've never had something quite like this before so I'm waiting patiently for the right answers to come.

please keep us in the loop of what you decide to do, if you would!

The article doesn't say anything about the jacket; it's about Cardin's expansion into other types of design. I can cut and paste it here if you'd like.
