Hello, I just got this fur cape and I am so intrigued by it. Can anybody please tell me more about the maker and possible age it was made. I have not been able to find anything similar anywhere. Thank you kindly.

You can read about Schiaparelli at the VFG Label Resource and Wikipedia. There's also lots online if you google.

AFAIK the furs were a licensed product and although I'm not sure how long they were made, yours looks like it might be from the early 1960s. It has that little collar (I can't remember the name of it) that always reminds me of Doris Day in a Touch of Mink. I love how a number of different pelts have been combine to give a similar patchy effect as the lining. Very interesting.

Do you have a close up of the label? I'm wondering if it's been reattached at some point because the stitching doesn't look original. It's also in an odd position for a cape - I would expect it to be in a less visible spot, perhaps the back or side rather than centre front.

I have a suspicion that the label was reattached too. Thank you for your help, I cannot stop staring at the craftsmanship.

Interesting piece ! The label looks original, Schiaparelli was known for the unique. Lining and style makes me think 60s as well.
