Please help me with the age of this wrap linen apron

This apron is made of lovely, heavy striped linen, wraps around, has a side hole for one of the ties, two pockets with bound button holes, a back button closure, and gores in the skirt. Very small, perhaps for a child or young teen. Home-made. My feeling is the name label was added later but I'm really not sure. Thanks for any help!

Doesn't look like an apron to me. Looks more like a wrap dress. Appear's 50's, but it's hard to tell with home made garments sometimes.

I would say wrap dress too. the neckline, pattern, colours and length is very 1930's. Picture it with a wide brim straw hat and lace up canvas shoes.

I was thinking the same thing - a summer wrap dress, perhaps to wear over a bathing suit to the beach?

agree, wrap dress. looks super cute. it's hard to see that label, but it reminds me of a dry cleaners/laundry service's client label

Thank you all. I guess I thought apron because of the pockets and fabric and the high neckline, but it is pretty elaborate for an apron. So wrap dress it is.

So - 50s? 30s? The label to me looks like one of those “hand sewn by Mom” type labels that were popular in the 70s and 80s. That’s why I thought it may have been added later.

I think the tag - which looks like a "name tag" to me that would identify the garment's owner at school, camp, on a trip or wherever it was worn. Since you mentioned that it's very small, I think it is a type of apron/cover for a child or young teen. It's possible it was made by the owner in a "home ec" sewing class as a project. OR maybe it was made to be worn over clothing during a home economics cooking or art class.

I think it is '50s but that is just a guess. I also think it's charming!

Thank you! Yes, it’s definitely a name tag, and yes, I agree it could have been a young person’s sewing project. Maybe that would explain the two gores.
