I'm sorry I couldn't post this at a better time (other then midnight on Sunday) but this is the only time I have. I've had this for a few years but need to sell it. (Is there some trick to making smaller pics?)

Could anyone help with this skirt? It's very long with a deep slit up the side. No tags. Should the pocket design be in the middle or on the side? Is there a name for the wooly treatment?

Is it hippie? Spanish? folk art? 70's?

I like very much :)
Looks 70s folk art to me but I could be wrong. I would probably wear it on the front side (the design) if that makes sense. Are there any darts or anything?

And does it have a reasonable sized waist? :D

The skirt is early to mid-70s and I have the same questions as Hatty. Are there darts? Or any indication which way is front? I would wear the skirt with the knitted applique (how's that for a description although I'm not sure it's correct) in front, too. Unless the knitted thing is an actual pocket-how big is it? It's nifty-

Harriet, the waist is 29" and it's very long...39.5" in fact. (...although I am very short, so that may not be so long.)

Everyones suggestions to look at the darts was perfect. It does have darts....two on each side of the zipper. It now appears that the applique does belong off to one side. In fact that thing is a pocket/sidepouch!!! It has a very narrow opening but the pocket is very deep inside. (...i never tried to slip my hand in before!!

The wool design is sewn onto a muslin (?!?...looks like cheesecloth but is stiffer) and that's sewn onto the skirt. So that would mean the term applique will work?? (i think thats a great description by the way...thanks antiqueladyvintage!)

Ok, so far so good. Thanks for all the help with date, words & descriptions!!!

so...should I say FOLK ART in the title?? should I use GYPSY or anything like that?? I'm going to use the "it's meant to look like a multicolored belt and a sidepouch" in the description if that's ok with patentleathershoes.

I am very much liking your skirt with the sidepouch thing going on.

I am short also, and the length is too long for me too.......

DARN............

All sounds good to me! Waist is a little big for me :( but I'm sure it will do well. I would put folk art in the title if it was me (I search it, but then that's just me so wait for other suggestions too!)

Let us know when you list!

I'll post when I'm ready to list...although I'm shy about sharing my eBay listings. They're nowhere even remotely close to how sophisticated all of your listing and stores are!!! ....never mind the tons of gorgeous finds you all aquire!!! :clapping: I'm always impressed!!!

I actually contract for the Pubic Board of Education & Catholic School Board during the school year. (I travel from school to school a few days a week, bringing hands-on Science workshops into classrooms for young kids. (Kids love explosions and touching snakeskin...fur...bones!! LOL!!)

Anyway, I generally just eBay vintage clothes (and whatever else I come across) during holidays and slow-times to try to keep the bills paid. I find the odd thing here'n'there but thanks to VFG learning about vintage is just as much fun as treasure hunting for it!!!

Hook, line and a goner!!!!!!!

You are not alone and I am afraid I will have to tell you that there is NOT a 12 step program for the type of madness we have.......:D
