Ah, now I get it. Was mildly freaked out on a recent trip to the US where it seemed that all the girls into 1950s gear had phenomenal tattoos and scared the living daylights out of me... I don't think it helped that I was visiting a 60s style drummer (who just happened to be gigging in some bands playing rockabilly events that week) so I'd arrived with a suitcase full of 1960s dollybird gear. Needless to say I did not fit in and it took many brandies to chill me out enough to venture into the crowds on my own. LOL!

Wish I'd known all this before I'd set off on that trip, I'd have been prepared, taken a whole diferent set of clothes and not spent half the week hiding behind a load of drum cases.

LOL, yes, a time traveller. :-)

I can't have looked that bad either as I did get asked to dance a lot... which actually scared me more. LOL!

There was one particular girl who looked absoloutely fabulous. She had a big black full skirted 50s dress on... and what seemed to be a fantasticly intricate lace pattern on the back of her dress. My drummer friend was gigging a couple of nights later at another rockabilly do and this girl was there again, wearing the lace but not the dress :puzzled: ... turned out it was a tattoo. A very very pretty intricate tattoo though, I rather liked it. I wouldn't have one done, but hers looked lovely on her.

I am glad that it worked out though and you didn't feel like you needed to hide behind a shrub all night.

Exactly why I wouldn't dream of having such a thing done, no matter how beautiful it looked (also it'd clash a bit with my 60s outfits), I'm such a wimp that I won't have my ears pierced, so I keep a stock of various clip-on fastenings so I convert vintage earrings! It was deeply beautiful though - never thought I'd say that about a tattoo! LOL! I do admire the girl deeply for going through all the pain to create something so beautiful... and the bravery to have somethign so permanent... the tattoo covered nearly her entiire back and shoulders!

No hiding behind shrubs as rockabilly events don't really seem to warrant shrubberies decorating the area. Did spend a lot of time hiding behind the drummer, clinging to the drummer (yay for excuses to do such things!) and hiding behind this divine drumkit of his. I've lond had a thing about drummers and drums so it was nice to have an excuse not to be socialising really, and the drumkit was deeply beautiful, all green and sparkly and pretty. :) He was going to sell that drumkit at the end of last year, I was quite distraught... have nice memories of falling asleep against the bass drum on the way back from gigs and helping put it together and ... other things (cough!) LOL! (in need of smiley that blushes!)
