The VFG pays respect to and honors the birthday of Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7), who left us all too soon. Charismatic, ambitious and oozing sexuality, Prince burst onto the music scene in the early 1980s and never looked back.
Prince was known for his hyper-sexual lyrics and over the top videos & live shows, as much as his flamboyant, androgynous costumes and clothing. His color was purple, and signature look was as a Dandy, but he played with many different and often outrageous looks throughout his career.
For this week's parade we invite members to show-off their best Prince-inspired fashions. Think: purple (along with other colors), velvet, paisley, lace, ruffles, braided military jackets, hip-hugger trousers, open-front blouses & shirts, jabots, high-heel boots, sequins, spandex, and androgynous items.
