Remember way back in 2004 when we used to dress like this?

But let's not forget, the absolute crowning glory at the time (if we must go for the really scary stuff) was if you had a tribal-style tattoo that would show above the waistline of the thong :BAGUSE: and below your top, in the back. I don't know what you call it in English. The German expression for it isn't very nice so I won't mention it. I ask myself how many people there are out there today who could probably kick themselves for having had that kind of thing done... I als remember mail-order catalogs at that time offered thongs that were supposed to peek out of your super-low-rise jeans, and were even decorated for that purpose. Scaaaaaary!

Karin

We call em a "tramp stamp". What is it in German?

"Tramp Stamp"! hahaha Here I thought we just had them here in Okie land. And that middle look...skirt and tee...still one of my favorites...especially with a 60s or 70s wrap skirt. Thank goodness in Oklahoma NOC! And they'll be wearing thongs here for a loooong time judging by the underwear dept. at Target.

Oh, my. I would totally go for that turquoise, trillium-print tunic on the right, if it came with a natural waistline and longer sleeves. (Empire waist + comic book heroine build = balcony bosom. I do not like feeling as though my neckline is part of the set for a production of "Romeo and Juliet".)

It shows just how much time I've been spending in the Titanic era. The tunic and the asymmetrical hemlines look perfectly normal to me.

Karin, I just added a word to my (horribly rusty) German vocabulary. Thank you!

So, I was idly flipping through Butterick's new spring pattern catalog yesterday. What should I find but that selfsame tunic top! :hysterical: Elbow length sleeves this time, but that same dratted Empire waistline. Now, the question is, do I follow through on my "I would so wear that"?

(And no, I am not going to spend sixteen bucks for a kimono-cut tunic pattern that I can draft myself in about ten minutes.)
