Hello.
Looking for information and possibly the original cost of these boots.
I have not been able to find anything online except a picture on Pinterest.
Any direction is appreciated.
Thanks,
Stacy

My understanding is that Rosina was Salvatore's sister, but the family NEVER acknowledges that fact... obviously there is some major tea to be spilled, or the rumour is completely false. Work under her name seems to exist only from the late 1960s to mid 1980s. The quality is good, and these look early 1980s to me.

Thank you!
That is what heard also. Would love to know what happened. Lol.
I am trying to get a price worked up to sell them. Unfortunately, they are a half size too small for me.

I find ads for that name from Newspapers.com from 1968 to 1990.
I swear I recall reading an article about her but I can't remember where or when - it was probalby something online... but I recall that when she died, the company bought her company and thus ended the rogue Rosina line of fashion... This may be a false memory, but then again... maybe its true...

That last article smacks of a lazy journalist who threw that bit of info about Ferragamo into the article... A completely made-up name by an American company who has the shoes made in Spain and Greece makes perfect sense, and it's not the first time that has happened either. I am glad to see this finally come to light and clearing up the rumours. Thanks for the research Victoria.

PS: Spain and Greece in the late 1960s, and Brazil in the 70s, were huge shoe-manufacturing countries trying to hone in on the international fashion footwear trade that was dominated by Italy, and to a lesser degree France. The U.S. manufacturing of fashion footwear was cooling in the late 1960s because of high labour costs, so the U.S. was looking for off-shore solutions. This story fits in perfectly with the history.

I do think Rosina was indeed Ferragamo’s sister and I do think she designed at some point so the connection is a bit mystifying but I do agree regarding this particular brand. I will try to find some info about Rosina at some point.

Here is a photo of her. And there are a few of her designs at the Met that list her as an Italian designer.

Hmmm - so there is still a mystery... so maybe that story I read about the company being sold is true. It may have started off as his sister (although that one article thinks she was his daughter...) The 1959 date on that news snippet is the earliest I have ever encountered her name. Salvatore died in 1960, and her name usually shows up after that. The Ferragamo story is full of holes that the company never fills in. I think its pretty obvious he was a supporter of Mussolini, so I suspect that's one big reason why they don't say too much. Also, his whole background of coming to America at the age of 14 is also full of holes...
