Rough and Ready!

Texture impacts all aspects of fashion, from seasonal wearability and drape to comfort and silhouette. Texture can be an inherent characteristic of a fabric, as in the elegance and buttery sleekness of charmeuse silk and silk-satin or the rustic sturdiness of tweed and bouclé. It can also be the result of fabric manipulations such as ruffling, appliqué, shirring and smocking.

Texture in accessorizing is no less important as it allows us to balance our garment choices with complementary lusters and surfaces, or call attention to them through the use of contrast.

This week we are focusing on textures of all kinds, from craggy Brutalist jewelry and fuzzy wools to highly polished patent leathers, fluttery silk chiffons and slippery acetates.
