I found this dress in a thrift store vintage section for $1.50 (It was half off.) I'm assuming it was home made but I'm no expert. My interest was mainly because of the fabric. It's hardly a print you see these days, and the fabric has a rather heavy tissue-like feel to it. It has elastic in the cuffs of the sleeves that I could hear disintegrating when I was checking it out, so no more checking it out. It's a longer dress - almost ankle length. No tags. It has that old vintage smell to it. Any idea as to it's age?
Would you be able to turn the photos? That would be a huge help! Oh, and maybe add a photo of the seams and/or hem? Thanks!
That is a lovely dress. It reminds me of some dresses I had in the late 80s - early 90s that were 1930s revival styles. Designers such as Carol Horn, etc., did some wonderful lines in that mid calf skimming length using vintage patterns in nice quality rayon crepes. Is the zipper plastic? Can you turn the photos so we can see the length and silhouette a bit better?
I don't know what's going on with the photos. They should be upright. They show up posted sideways on my phone and upright on my computer. I'll try it again with this post. I put the dress on my dress form. It's over another dress so ignore the black skirt sticking out of the bottom. lol These pics are front and back, the seam inside the back of the skirt, and the hem. Tiny waste, pleated skirt, doleman sleeves in some heavy silky tissue-like fabric. It reminds me very much of that 1950s Jerell Jr dress I posted before.
