I am unpacking my new mannequin and do not know what to do!

She has the capability of using a rod in her foot OR her calf and it appears that there is one too many metal parts and I just can't figure out how to get it all to work.

If i take photos of what i have, or describe it can someone give me some advice??

She has a metal base with a threaded hole, a long tube foohickey think with a wing nut on it, had a screw in her calf which i removed, has a metal square rod that jogs a bit and then has a threaded tall piece that fits into the metal base that is capped off at the top.

Both that and the one with the wingnut can fit on the base.

I will see if i can charge up my camera to take a pic or does that make sense to somebody?

I figured out how to set up the rod in her foot and she is standing. I will take a pic in a bit of her other hardware, and maybe someone can tell me how to get it to go in her calf. the way i am doing it, i know I am not using a piece that i should and it is not working yet.

Here are the parts I am not using right now. I assume they are all for putting the rod in her calf. The screw was in her calf. below there is a slot that the long piece fits in. i can't seem to get my act together

  8. Chris, I don't know what that small piece with the wing nut is for is for but I believe you put the rod in her calf and then use the screw to secure it.
Did you buy this manni off eBay? Is she a new manni or a vintage one?

  9. Chris, my manni has a butt rod and a calf rod, here is what the calf rod looks like inserted...

    I will post her pic.

    she's newer

Huh, i will have to try that the whole is actually higher on the back of her leg. What puzzled me is when the rod is in like it is on yours, it doesn't sit at the right angle to put in the stand...hence i was wondering about the extra unused pieces..

  12. Chris, Lovely mannequin, I love her face...

Some mannequins have a foot rod, an ankle rod and a calf rod, some have a combination of two, some have only one like my newer mannequin which I do not use anymore because the vintage ones are much easier, not complicated and not as heavy as some new ones are.

Ok back to the hole, if the hole is higher on her leg than it's probably a calf rod like the picture of mine above, you have to position that rod so it curves into the base hole, I think. The screw definitely goes in there to secure it toghtly to her leg, just don't over screw it or you'll crack her leg.

Didn't they send instructions? The reason I asked if you bought her on eBay was because if you did I wanted to look at the listing to see if I could see how it was positioned for you. Where did you buy her? If you send me the link I'll try and help you out with this.

  13. OR show me pictures of the holes, make sure you take a full shot so I can see, also take a shot of the base with the manni off it so I can see how the rod attaches to the base. I don't need to see the foot hole, we both know how that works.

If I don't respond tonight, that means I am out having cocktails with hubby...

I might have thrown em out by accident! I swear i looked through everything but might not have.

She was a gift from my parents :) Not bought off of ebay. But I DO have a photo that I chose her from and they might have one online... but dangnabbit, it shows her with the foot rod in so I can't see it! I will look around and either scan/take a snap of the back of her leg

Enjoy the cocktails and have a glass of wine for me!

  15. Hey, she's really pretty. She has a very different look to her. I really like her pose. It's so demure and low key.

What's her name. She looks like a Grace to me.

Nope, Tori has a Grace and I think someone else has one too. She is definitely not Grace. Though in the long wig she looks like she could be one of the (seven?) graces (lowercase.)

I'm no help at all (my mannequin is a mystery to me) but I do have to say she's lovely. I love her pose! I also like both wigs, they should give you some versatility. The long auburn one looks like the same color as my own hair, though mine is only half as long. Kind of strange to see it online for some reason. The icy blonde looks fantastic against the red!

Hey! I'm not a newbie! :P I didn't realize nothing carries over from the private board and you have to start all over again. I haven't been a newbie in a long while. :D

I guess you have to just start gabbing - you are a few posts away from being a Stylist!

And thanks on my manni! I am thinking about one more wig. Maybe a short mod bob style, but maybe down the road. I used to have that color hair too, but a bit redder. Mine was from a bottle or sometimes henna shampoo. I am brunette again because I figure I might as well enjoy my natural color while i can. (but I don't take after my mother who was gray at 21 and my father whose hair color I have didn't get gray til 55 and still hardly has any so I am safe for awhile)

My husband thinks she is creepy!

You know, I have like 5 wigs for Prissy and I never even bother to change them anymore. She's forever sporting her blond bob because I'm just to darn lazy to keep changing it and that's the easiest one to throw on and smooth down during a photo shoot.

Luckily my husband isn't too freaked out by my mannis. We split the back room into my studio and his music room so when he plays his guitar he has a gorgeous built-in audience!
