Sharing something that\'s made me a very happy person!

Just wanted to share my latest aquisition (never, EVER going for resale as far as I'm concerned - :)) and it's made me happy after the recent ebay kerfuffles.

Okay, so I FINALLY got myself a 'couture' label Ossie Clark. Actually met the former owner up in London to pick it up - I clutched it to my chest ALL the way home. Stunning, n'est pas?

Some of you <i>may</i> find this dress oddly familiar?

And I thought having a Varon advertised in Vogue was unbeatable!!!

Nah! I think it's pretty damned awful, and I can tell you will soon get fed-up with it - so to save you any distress you may as well just send it over to me now, and I'll TRY to make some room for it here! - OK???

:)

Wow! An Ossie AND a Hockney! You.......you........... :P

Margaret, I have a feeling that Liz isn't buying it.;)

I'm bowled over by this, Liz! I can just imagine that you got home via cloud nine!

Do we have the label on the resource?

Lizzie

Wowser - reeeeesult - where on earth did you find that - now go find the original painting :)

Anne

ps - it's made me a very happy person too - cos I know how thrilled you are and I'm happy for you

I have NEVER SEEN a MORE STUNNING GOWN!!!

The CUT and FIT SHOW OFF the WOMAN!!!

DROP DEAD GROGEOUS!!
All you need is a GARDENIA in your hair.
YOU are ONE LUCKY LADY!!

Oh...BOY!
Wowee. That's just amazing.
It actually looks even more fantabulous in the cloth than in the painting. If that's in the National Portrait Gallery, you know you can get a photo quality print out of it in the shop for about £12? (or more, if you want the bigger print).

Don't know why I'm blathering about prints 'cos I'm just in awe of this dress. HOW DID you find it??

Karma - this is what photofinishuk earned for you...

It's a very long and involved story, one minute walking on air, the next.....fearful I may never get it!! It was hilarious because I went immediately to the London Look exhibition at The Museum of London, which only has one Ossie dress.....I kept smiling to myself (and clutched the bag ever tighter)!!

It's taken me two days to photograph it though; black moss crepe is bad enough, red...even worse......but the two together????

Margaret, if I ever get bored of it....I'll let you know!! :)

Lizzie - I don't think you do have the label actually - I'll take a quick shot of it! I think I was on cloud 10 actually!!! :)

I just keep going to have a look at it (and marvel at the sleeves) and feel so proud to be looking after a little piece of history!! *mini weep*

Lin!! That's just what someone else just said to me!! :)

There's a big reproduction of the painting in the V&A Ossie book, and I believe she's also wearing it in the photo on page 12! Hockney took a few liberties, and she was pregnant in the painting so it does look very different....but the sleeves are just so distinctive!! I vaguely remember the <i>actual</i> dress looking very different from the painting at the exhibition!

now go find the original painting

hahahaha!! Now I simply must say how stunning the gown is and how happy I am for you! I just know you are absolutely on the highest cloud ever with this acquisition!!

Congrats!! It's a beauty!!

Oh My!
I haven't had a chance to come to this board in awhile.
I see I'm missing some wonderful things.

That is breathtaking! :)
You must be absolutely thrilled!

Lynn

What's really wonderful about this dress, and that I didn't find out until I tried it on myself late last night, is that you can tell he designed it for her with a lot of love. It looks SO much better on me than on the mannequin, which is not something I can usually claim!!! What I had to clip and tweak on her just 'works', the proportions make sense! Most of his pieces seem to be made for gazelles, but this dress is designed for a petite, curvy person. Which is wonderful!!

<i>Margaret, if I ever get bored of it....I'll let you know!! </i>

Brilliant, I'll hold you to it - and what's more...........there are witnesses!!!! :D

Fed up with it yet?? Hmmmm?
