Sister Max: The Nun Who Dressed Hollywood

A couple of years ago I sold a beautiful beaded dress with the label Sister Max. She was a very interesting sort!


Here is an additional photo and article I was sent by the archivist who I contacted for photo permissions.

I wonder if she was the one who started that whole Indian industry of beading and embroidery those cocktail dresses with jagged hems that were so popular in the mid 80s. I found a vintage shop in London that had a rack of them for 15 pounds each! They were closing and I didn't have time to look carefully, but I bet some of them were labelled Sister Max.
