\Gore\, v. t.
To cut in a traingular form; to piece with a gore; to provide
with a gore; as, to gore an apron.

There is the definition. You see those triangular pieces sewn to bottom of 40s slips or nightgowns. This is not really a true gore but I don't know what else to call it.

Does anyone know?

Also, on skirt patterns....a circle skirt might be one or two pieces of fabric, but a gored skirt could have a similar silhouette but have, say, 7 panels more or less triangular panels. It gives it the same circled effect of a standard circle skirt, but the way it circles AND drapes it at the same time gives a fuller look. that type of skirt, each gore goes hem to seam.

I really like the Artemis in this bunch, Linda. It is so simple and pretty
