Aloha, For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, today marks the Autumnal Equinox. For many of us, (before the Pandemic) that means moving our Spring and Summer clothes into a spare closet and bringing out warmer, heavier weight and/or deeper toned clothing and accessories that reflect the colors of the turning leaves. Yes, even here in Hawaii, I put away my white shorts - LOL . Starting today and for the next two weeks, please share your "Autumn Treasures" - anything vintage fashion related that reminds you of autumn. It could be jewelry, shoes, clothing, hats, outerwear, scarves, handbags - etc! Here are a few to get you started: Weiss Earrings West German Earrings D&E aka Juliana Demi-Parure (Earrings and Brooch set) 1950s Frances McKay Dress Bobbie Bates Mustard Colored Dress * *This might have been meant to be worn (originally) while bowling or playing golf. I will have to check to see if it was shortened. Belt added by me.
Great theme Linn, and I love that magenta purple in your D&E brooch. That is one of the best alternate fall colors in my book.
These are some of my autumn vintage items. The first one is a 50s silk leaf print dress that I had to fall (get it?) for, even though I had planned to sell it. This cotton sateen blouse was one I found probably 20 years ago, and ditto the aboveāI just loved it. This leaf pin was on a mannequin in a Nordstrom store in the late 90s (which makes it vintage!). I went running around trying to find it in the jewelry department. It's hard to tell from my photo, but the rhinestones are orange and pale green. This hat is one I sold, but the gloves and brooch are mine. I really love orange and chartreuse at this time of year!
Gorgeous jewelry Linn! I sold these Hattie Carnegie beads because I don't wear chokers but I sure did admire them. Also sold, alas not my size... 1950s Delido Scarecrow Novelty Print Capri Pants Leaf print ties - Arrow, Haband and Towncraft - all sold. An antique Edwardian enamel sash pin, a piece of Canadian patriotic jewelry, also sold.
My husband Bobby and I have been known to doll up in vintage and play vintage music on our horn and ukelele(s). People love it. Here is a couple photos from where we did just that. 1. A huge antique show that I was a vendor at, yet with my helpers, we were able to walk around the building and play for shoppers. 2. An open house for the holidays that was in November at one of our friend's huge antique shop. We also had a photo shoot with a friend of ours around our neighborhood in the autumn. I have been so grateful for him this year!
Love the photos of you and your hubby, Janice! 1960s Autumn Colored Tweed Coat 1970s Autumn Floral Print Polyester Dress 1970s Autumn Colored Plaid Wool Skirt 1950s Mary Maxim Football Sweater
Just sold this cardigan - I loved the stenciled fall leaves. I had a pullover with the same leaves. This Scottish tweed cap gives me fall feelings This suede and knit cardigan is a perfect fall topper!
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I know that there's so much more Autumn to share, so let's continue to show-of our "Fall" pieces - vintage jewelry, clothing and accessories with Autumn themes and colors. Here are a few more of mine: '30s Celluloid and Bakelite Acorn and Leaves Pin Fall Colored Parure - Necklace is signed Weiss Art Deco Leaf Dress Clip C. 1950s Weiss Japanned Demi (I have this in aqua and chartreuse, too!) Trifari Goldtone Leaf Brooch Schreiner Orange and Green Leaf Trembler, Demi 1950s Novelty Print Skirt - fun to wear in the Fall Let's see what you have to share!!!
These earrings and brooch came out of my mom's costume jewelry collection and I sold the set for her. I think the colors are perfect for autumn!
I guess this 1980s suit by Gai Mattiolo would make a nice splash in autumn too. I love how they used tthe two complementing fabrics.
Karin - Great suit! The earrings you sold for your mother look like they might have been Eisenberg or Weiss copying Eisenberg. Very nice examples. MJ, thak you for showing those two great Autumn dresses!
