STILL perplexed on this purse!

I am still trying to date this hinge framed purse after these lo many months. The hinge frames were around quite a bit in the 60s and even some of the 70s, but I really feel that this is quite older based on the interior, etc...but please educate me if someone believes i am incorrect... the lining could be throwing me off!

This handbag i want to say is about 12" or so wide but have to verify...

The tapestry is stitched to the frame...or more so...there are perforations in the frame and it is whip stitched through it. I expected the lining to look similarly stitched on the inside, but the way it is finished, you do not see that. I am going to try to get better pics of the lining.

The interior has a two little pockets right next to eachother and one snugly holds a fabric back mirror. The interior is not satin, or self lined like one might imagine. In fact, I could not tell you what the fabric is. The weave of the the fabric i can best discribe if you had an extremely fine grosgrain that didn't have quite the "tooth" but had the directionality of a grosgrain. behind the mirror pocket is a small "run".

What other resources...websites...books...etc...should i look at to help me with this? or feel free to jump in
 
Tapestry bags like that with the perforated metal frame and chain handle were around for quite some time. Due to the size though I would suspect it to be older than newer as the smaller ones are usually late 20s/early 30s. SO maybe early 20s?

I know, tapestry purses can be hard to date. The construction though said older, and the frame motif gave me an almost arts and craftsy vibe over the more streamlined/mod-ish vibe that the later bags give me.

Anyway..this is a purse that i waited and waited 4 -5 hours (started at 6;30 pm) into an auction because i really wanted it. A helper lady said it would be auctioned at the end because it didn't have a lot number yet. The lot of purses (nice Kor-day, two stained evening clutches and a really nice unusual floral beaded box purse) went astronomically high even for keeping and not selling so i sat and waited. When we couldn't take anymore at midnight and had to get to let our dogs out, i asked the auctioneer's wife if they were going to auction it or not. and she said they were not!!!!!

I could have died having sat in the non airconditioning for nothing and growing very blurry eyed on a hot florida night in an enclosed building with just one big fan.

And then she said "well it is just something that has been hanging around. we lost track of what auction it was from and has been sitting here for months. but i will sell it to you" (there was that and a candle stick thingy my husband wanted it.)

So she said that because we are regulars, she would sell them to us, for the cost of a pizza for her kid.

So we walked away with the two items and she stuffed the money in her bra. I would not want to be the guy at the pizza counter who got that money after 6+ hrs there. yuck
 
They actually bought a few estates vs dealing with consigners...so it was "theirs" but heck if it were me I would have tried to get more cash for it whether i paid next to nothing for it or not!
 
Chris, I'm positive this is 20s. The tapestry fabric is definitely not
60s. The chain also looks very similar to one I have on a handbag from the
mid 20s.

I think this one will be a keeper at least for the time being.

the price sure was right. although i realy sweated it out :)

there is another auction soon if i can rope in my husband to go. But tomorrow is estate day...so yippee.
