Super fantastic 60\'s dress - what is this style called?

    Hi!

Ok, honestly, when I get a piece like this, I'm reminded why I LOVEEEEEEE vintage! I mean how fab are the colors? And the way that all the lines match up perfectly is fantastic! This is my fiancé's fav dress! Neither of us have ever really seen this style before, is anyone familiar with it? What's weird is that on the hanger we though it was just going to hang super long, like the hips would be really low on a person, we didn't realize it had this whole effect where it was bigger around the waist! Any info on the style etc would be great! Also, would you consider this mod?

  2. Hmmm, thats really cute. It looks like it is mimicing a blouse tucked into a skirt but I don't know if there is a name for this effect.
I love the colors, too. If it is fiances' fav why don't you keep it?:hiya:

It's *very* mod. The bright colours, the stripes, the perfect geometric shape, the length of it. I could deffinately see that appearing in Quadrophenia. :clapping:

    love, moons and starrs,

It's a blouson style, where the bodice "blouses" over the skirt. Cute dress!

Blouson is the proper term, but I have also seen them described in period magazines as 'sack-waist'

    TheVintagePeddler,

    Plus: Fiancé's favorite
Minus: My waistline prefers snacking more than watching it's figure, hence the dress doesn't fit by a long mile ;)

'sack-waist'?? ugh! No wonder it's better known as a blouson.

Too bad it's not a 'snack-waist' or it would fit, eh?:hysterical:

Ahhhhhhhhh ha ha ha ha Janine!
Even better would be me storing my snacks inside the pouffed out blouson ;)
"Chips? Sure right here tucked safely inside my dress!" ;)
