I've been a real shoe buying spree lately. Here are the latest, a pair of Bally pumps (from the 40s?)

Have you noticed that there are almost no women with tiny feet anymore? I have a dear friend who wears a 5, but she's a rare bird (and so are shoes to fit her).

I wear a 6, or a 5 1/2 in some lines, like Ferragamos. It's VERY hard for me to find new shoes, as some stores no longer carry anything smaller than a 7!

Most of the shoes I buy to wear, I buy on eBay. Not vintage, actually, but there are several styles of YSL shoes from the 90s that I love because they are comfortable enough to work in, and they still look fantastic.

Those are absolutely GORGEOUS. That detail is so fabulius and the peep toe is perfect with it. I can honestly say I am in LOVE with those shoes! You are so lucky they fit you, I bet they look fantastic on.

Those are the most adorable shoes!!! I'm green with envy. I'm a real shoe nut. For years, I wore a 5 1/2 and had the hardest time finding shoes. Finally, all those years of standing on my feet teaching, made my feet grow to 6 1/2 or, sometimes, 7. It's wonderful to be able to finally find shoes that I can wear!
I think of 5's and 5 1/2's as tiny feet, but today I was having my pedicure and the guy doing the pedicure went on and on about how tiny my shoes were for a Western woman (he was Asian). I felt absolutely petite!

Is it the fact that a) western women have never bound their feet b) adapting to our environment because we hold more jobs where we have to be on our feet and need larger feet for balance c) vitamins and junk food. a friend of mine told me he went to japan a few years back and was surprised to see a lot of young people that were well over 6 foot, yet the elderly, etc, were very short. they had said because they ate more vitamins and they ate a lot of junk food with hormones, etc, in the dairy products et al, they were not living any longer, but were able to get bigger as a result. d) a coincidence.

well, this is coming from the person whose ballet instructor commented "good, you have really big feet compared to your height!"...and i then luckily she added.... "so you have better balance"
