Liz, I'm reading through this in spare moments, and this is absolutely fascinating. Thanks for providing so much rich detail.

I was just inspired to post a (bad) pic of the Jean Varon I decided to keep for myself. It's got the 70s print label, and is more or less see through (so perfect for those proto-paparazzo flash-bulbs) - I love the disco-witchiness to it:

I can see Bates as a diabolical mastermind, trying to create a world where everyone is super-skinny and Mary Quant doesn't exist ;)

I love that dress!!! :clapping: The later ones can be a bit hit and miss (floaty, slinky sex kitten versus floaty, dumpy Queen Mum parfait), but that's definitely a hit!!!! Fabulous :D
