hi! the title says it all, really. i thought this would be a good first post, so here's the gems i dug up at my local thrift store today!
alright, so upon peeping into the jewelry cabinet, i spied a set of thin marbled spacer bangles. they looked to have the right patina and sound, so i happily paid the $2.50 for the set (omg). on the shelf below i also spotted a gigantic bag of plastic bangles and a couple caught my eye, particularly the orange and green marbled ones. i was unable to open the bag, but i went with my gut and snatched the other bag up for just under $7.00. in unrelated bakelite news, i also found this gorgeous red faceted glass necklace, which i may separately post, as i need to figure out a date for it.
when i got home, i made a mad dash for the 409 cleaner and Q-tips. after the testing, 7 of the bangles i swabbed turned out a positive for bakelite! below are pictures of the tested bangles and the necklace i grabbed:
