The first one I know is a bermuda bag. Cover unbuttons. Would you say 60s or 80s?

It's really hard to date Bermuda Bags. Generally, I think buyers just search for that term and the dating is secondary. The market for them on ebay last year was really strong. I'm not sure what it's like right now. When you list it, make sure to mention the distance between the button holes. This makes a difference as they vary and a lot of people are looking to mix and match with other covers or bags they already have.

Linda - I'm leaning towards 80's on the Bermuda bag, based only on the staples - in other words that's just a wild guess :) I agree that the date is less important to buyers than the style.

The second one is great funky kitch - reminds me of the way people covered their upholstered furniture in plastic - so lovely to behold and just delightful in summer - oh, the feel of your thighs sticking to it!

I'm guessing late 50's/early 60's - regardless, with the pink flowers, clear handle and all that plastic it should be a winner :)

I agree about the style over year on Bermuda bags...the cuter the cover the better and the more covers with one bag the better too.

as far as the second i have seen tons late 40s to mid 50s with the plastic over fabric treatment. But just because i haven't seen one doesn't rule out later 50s or early 60s and because of the more sculptural shape, it is probably in line with carolyn's guess, but no later than 1964, I would say.

egads Linda-- I'm in LOVE with that plastic bag!

Please let me know when you list it....

oh, the feel of your thighs sticking to it!
LOL. Boy, does that bring back memories.
Thanks for the input. I will take your advice on the dates and such.
Kristine, I am going to try to get these purses up to begin tonight.
Do you think I could get away with VTAing them since they have pink in them???

The first one is primarily blue - so i would probably say not as far this VTA - but it could definitely go with next month's WAcky World of prints if you can sit tight til June 1st.

The second one, i would consider a white purse and good white purses are hard to come by due to they are usually the first ones to get dirty/yellowed etc. In my opinion, there is not enough pink in it for VTA, but someone may come along with a mroe definitive answer for you.

Just wanted to let you know that the plastic handbag has just gotten 3 bids in the last hour. Set there for days and now action. Remarkable.
