Unforgettable: Natalie and Nat King Cole
This week the Vintage Fashion Guild pays tribute to American singer-songwriter, Natalie Cole, along with her father: that smooth mid-century crooner, Nat King Cole. Sometimes referred to by the title of her 1976 hit, Sophisticated Lady, Ms. Cole's career embraced R&B, funk, pop and jazz genres. From 1976 through 2009, she won 9 Grammy Awards, but perhaps is best known for Unforgettable, a track in which her vocals were overdubbed onto a 1961 Nat King Cole recording which created the sound of a father-daughter duet. Known for their genteel elegance, both Natalie and Nat King Cole were "a class above" and will always be fondly remembered for their signature dignified style.

Get the look for Nat with suits and all the fine details of tailored, classic menswear: skinny neckties, cuff links, tie tacks, pocket squares and hankies, rings, hats, as well as cardigans and more relaxed mid-century fashions. Get the look for Natalie with disco-era glittering gowns, feather boas, jumpsuits, sequin bags, caftans, crochet lace tops, disco and sparkle jewelry, hats and hair decorations, platform shoes, as well as the elegant, timeless looks of her later-career as in big formal gowns, skirted suits, and pantsuits with blouses.
