Unsolicited movie review: UP

While I can see why Disney/Pixar has decided to utilize their new 3D technology, they really didn't need it on this one.

We went to see "Up" yesterday, and it was absolutely charming. I loved it! It was a bit melancholy at times, but was blended well with humorous moments, action scenes, and a very nice story line. It was a buddy story, love story, fantasy, and comedy all in one.

The animation was wonderful, and fit the story very nicely. They didn't try to make it look "real", even though it has been proven so many times that the crisp, slick animation can be done. This felt more like a living story book.

I highly recommend seeing this one, 3D or not (I'd prefer not). You don't need to have kids to enjoy it thoroughly.

My girl & I just got back from seeing this and it was wonderful! Our theaters don't offer 3-d but I didn't miss it. Heartwarming and visually stunning.
Four thumbs up from us!

Our local paper gave it a 5 star rating (out of 5 stars possible) and raved about it. Apparently the old geezer's voice is supplied by Lou Grant!

Yes, the main character is Ed Asner, and the main villian is Christopher Plummer, after that Delroy Lindo (good actor, but not well known), and of course John Ratzenberger (a bit part, but I think Pixar is contractually obligated to put him in every movie). All the other voices are unknowns; people who worked on the movie in other areas.
I get a little distracted sometimes by the big name actors being used for every little part. Up didn't rely on the actor's names for the movie to work.
