Thank you for sharing that, Claire. I had only heard of this velvet mentioned in old books, but had idea how intensive the work is, or how it was actually done. I loved seeing all the tools involved.

It could also be a burn-out or devore'.
Here are two photos of a 1860 Worth dress. It is cloth of silver with cut and uncut velvet. This is an old picture of the dress. I don't have a good photo of the dress, but I do have more details.

I had this evening gown which I sold which was made of the most amazing fabric. I have never had silk before that looked or felt like it.
