I have just purchased a bag previously owned by Renee Louise Marie de Rothschild who married British equestrian & Olympian Peter Robeson. The bag was used when Peter Robeson was competing at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
The bag is made of black suede and is 10 inches by 6 inches & has gold tone hardware. The bag opens with a screw closure which I have never seen before. I can obviously date the bag to the 1960s but I can not find out the maker. There are no makers marks apart from the writing on one rivet which I believe shows a Japanese maker.
Is anyone able to translate the text or know of any Japanese makers?
