hi! we have what we believe is a genuine vintage (80's?) chanel handbag but would like to know for definate .. the black leather is beautiful quality and buttery soft to touch , heavy silver hardware link chain strap & double C lock (the fastening is broken) .. zip & buckle is engraved with 'chanel' .. made in france enamel & metal tab inside .. printed CC & stripe satin lining , but we can't find a serial number , although have read that especially vintage editions do not necessarily have to have one to be guarenteed authentic .. if anyone has any useful information to further our quest or knows of any good websites to verify authenticity, please post back! many thanks, joskin5 xxx
Hi there, try looking again for a hologram with a serial number, its about dime sized. They are very often on the bottom corners hard to see places, perhaps attatched to a small leather tab. I can't tell from the pics, is all the hardware the same color ? Also, the screw heads on the back of the CC clasp, would help verifying authenticity.
I kind of think it is fake, due to the difference in size of the fonts, on the word "MADE" (see how some of the letters appear larger?), for starters, along with the general appearance of the materials and construction. Let's see what others may think though, to be sure.
